Beware of “By the Pound” Dumpster Pricing
Beware of “affordable” dumpster rates advertised at $199–$300 when pricing is billed by the pound. Their rentals often come with low weight caps and inflated overage rates.
For a true price comparison, always confirm:
- The included ton cap
- The per-ton rate over the cap
- The rental period length
Extra Costs
Additional fees may apply under certain conditions:
- Extended Rental: A daily fee may be charged after the 15-day rental period.
- Overweight Fees: A tonnage fee applies for every ton exceeding the dumpster’s capacity.
- False Run Fees: Charged if the dumpster is blocked or overloaded at pickup.
Street permits and barricades are the customer’s responsibility. Restricted items such as tires and electronics may require special handling.

Things You Need to Know About Dumpster Placement
Dumpster on the Street
Permission to place a dumpster on the street in Green Bay and the surrounding Brown County areas must be granted by your local DPW at least a day before delivery. We will need a control number or the contact name and phone number at the DPW before placing a dumpster on a public street.
Dumpster in an Alley
Dumpsters normally do not fit through an alleyway. They also cannot be placed on any public right-of-way, including alleys, sidewalks or median strips. Measure your space and review dumpster dimensions before ordering.
Dumpster on a Driveway
When placing a dumpster on a driveway or parking pad, refer to the roll-off dumpster dimensions. If the dumpster door needs to swing open, remember the door is on the back of the container and requires about 9’ of clearance.
Protecting Your Driveway with Wood
Use wood planks to protect the driveway surface. 2X6 boards are recommended (4–8 feet long), and plywood can also work. Place boards in the general drop area, and the driver can position the dumpster over them.
Dumpster companies generally do not take responsibility for damage to surfaces required to deliver or remove a roll-off dumpster rental.
